I clipped this recipe out of a magazine a long time ago...I can't even tell you the source...Maybe Cooking Light. I have made Baked Ziti before many many times...it's an easy go-to dish that I can rely on for leftovers. But over the years I have gotten lazy with it and started using jarred sauce at some point. I wanted to get back to the REAL Baked Ziti...and this was yummy.
My 3 Nazi children kept looking at the dish as I was preparing it. They were not appreciative that I included fresh basil, it is green after all. Also, the lumpy tomatoes made them very skeptical.
My blood boiled a bit because of all the effort i put in to cooking and they can each walk in and find something wrong with what I am cooking....but really...how can you walk away from this dish? I LOVED IT! this is a keeper....and this too, goes well with wine!
VERY INEXPENSIVE! I had everything in my pantry already!! I deviated from the sausage variation and used ground turkey because I had it in my freezer. Next time, I will use sausage...I bet that give it more pizazz!!
And my crew...the Nazi Children...see for yourself!
