Somebody get me a chair....I feel faint!!!

When I picked this dish out I wasn't thinking about my kids at all. I was focused on adults only, we were celebrating New Years Eve!! When this dish was complete, Kaitlin, AKA kitchen nazi, walked by surveying the food for the night. She kept looking at my finished plate of shells. I did leave some without parsley...have I mentioned they won't eat that either if it's garnishing a dish? I have many many challenges in this house. Kaitlin quietly grabbed a plate and a shell....then she took another shell. Sweet Jesus, get me a chair....I was in shock. It was the LIFE cereal commercial all over again....Kaitlin likes it....she really really likes it!!!!

I love having people over and spending the night eating appetizers and drinking wine. imagine that.
I have become dependent on my local Trader Joes store to supply the appetizers, but there is nothing better than the homemade ones. My friend and neighbor Bo reminded me of that with her homemade stuffed mushrooms. So now I had a mission. New Years Eve....just a couple of friends came over and I wanted a homemade goodie! This dish looked both easy and impressive! And it was!
The ingredients....and a little something extra for the cook!
Disclaimer: I was in the holiday spirit and drank some egg nog while preparing....a little Southern Comfort never hurt anyone!! Maybe it makes the dish even better!
love the smell of fresh chopped parsley
I doubled this recipe because I was not sure how much it would actually yield. Double was too much. Maybe it was the egg nog, but I ended up scrapping 1/4 of the mixture. It was also a wee bit bland, so I had to kick it up a notch. more pepper and salt!!
I also drizzled a bit of marinara on top as well prior to broiling....a good touch...that added a bit extra flavor that was needed! This dish is a EXTREMELY good finger food. The broiling crisped up the pasta just enough to make the shells firm enough to hold and eat without a fork!

a very pretty plate of food...I served 3 of these! they were a hit!

recipe came from one of my favorite magazines...Cuisine At Home...Dec 2010 edition. This magazine has paid off...I find a lot of recipes that are repeatedly cooked from this magazine!!

even the dog liked the shells...I lost 2 when I tilted the plate to take this picture!!! We can blame that on the Southern Comfort AND the wine!!!!
