Is That It Pork Satay |
You have to love when you slave away in the kitchen and your child walks up to get their plate and utters those three magic words, "Is that it?". I don't know if you are doing the same thing I did reading that sentence, but I heavily sighed, shook my head, and rolled my eyes. It's not that the dish was hard to make at all. In fact, this was a fairly easy one. It certainly wasn't an inexpensive dinner. I had to procure almost all of the ingredients and just locating them in the store was a challenge in itself. The reasoning behind 'is that it?' was everyone got three skewers. I don't know if I am overfeeding these kids of mine, their growing bodies require more protein, or perhaps, they have a tapeworm, but the three skewers were not enough. After they finished their dinner in record time, I could hear them rooting around the pantry and then the battle cry of my hungry children, "Hey Mom, do we have any Spaghetti-o's?!"
I would definitely recommend doubling the recipe, at least that's my plan next time. I, also, didn't want to go to the liquor store for sake. I found rice cooking wine at the grocery store and went with it. Regardless, everyone enjoyed Cuisine At Home's Pork Satay, what little of it they had.
